A pedestrian safety rail that prevents children leaving Saint Andrews school running along a path and straight into traffic has been damaged by the impact of a vehicle. The safety rail is part of the safety infrastructure for the zebra crossing, which is the primary safe crossing point on Station Road. The rail has been struck by a vehicle as the vehicle has crossed the zebra crossing. The crossing is bent and misshapen with sharp torn metal which could cause significant hand injuries.

  • The handrail remains in a damaged state. There remains a significant hazard to pedestrians using the handrail. There remains very sharp jagged metal protruding. This area is heavily transited by children during the school runs.
