Grass removal to aid children not getting out of cars into oncoming speeding traffic

Reported via mobile anonymously at 10:37, Thursday 13 March 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and West Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later

Hi there

We live at 15 London Road, Chipping Norton OX7 5AX.

Outside our house there are a number of parking spaces none of which are specifically designated to the properties here but everyone is very respectful.

Number 14 is a holiday cottage and often people with numerous cars come to stay.

Directly outside number 15 is a small grass verge which always ends up with vehicles parked on it - this is mostly because there is simply nowhere else to park for the residents here. That aside, the road is consistently used by huge Lorry’s and buses etc. and it is actually very dangerous to park on this road, a number of cars have been hit and some written off parked on the main road here.

We have a young child (who sadly currently also has a broken leg). There is never anywhere for us to get in and out of the car safely other than into oncoming and always speeding traffic.

The verge is completely mashed up from cars parking on it and I wonder if this specific small piece of grass could be tarmac to add an additional spot and stop the front of our house looking like a mess from the churned up verge but also just to make life easier for people who need to park/get in and out of their vehicle with these speeding Lorry’s going past.

I’m not sure who I need to speak to or which department but I would be so so grateful if someone could come back to me as this tiny change would have such a massive impact on our lives here.

Thank you in advance

Kind regards
