Incorrect guidance lin on new surfacing and lining scheme

Reported via desktop in the Road Markings category anonymously at 17:18, Saturday 8 March 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

M40 sb off slip is marked lane 1 for brackley via a422. Lane 2 and 3 marked right turn arrow to Banbury. Guidance line on gyratory leads to hatching for a361 only. This is likely to result in side swipe incidents.previous lining for junction was correct. I am former traffic engineer for National highways and lining is incorrect in my opinion. Should be checked against TSRGD and DMRB

  • I know that the lanes caught drivers out before the recent works but that was due to speed and inattention, the new lines (and lack thereof) and dangerous. In this past week I've nearly been hit 3 times from drivers confused as to where they should sit - I'm confused, coming from Banbury to head into the A422 to Middleton Cheney the lane guidance is incorrect and so dangerous. Needs fixing asap!

  • Today I was nearly hit by a car crossing 3 lanes - it was not their fault as the lanes make no sense. Please fix the incorrect lines urgently!
