Investigating
2 foot square heavyweight manhole cover, loose in it's frame
Reported via desktop in the Manhole category anonymously at 14:18, Friday 28 February 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The cover is in line with the near-side wheel of passing traffic. Every vehicle that passes our house (Meers Parcel), causes the cover to make a very loud, deep thudding noise. The cover is loose. If it were to come out, the result would be catastrophic. We moved here in 2019. The manhole was already loose when we arrived in Blewbury. It is getting worse.

The loose and sunken manhole (as described above) is very dangerous for cyclists and motorcyclists in its current state and would be highly dangerous to all vehicles and and nearby pedestrians if comes completely out of its frame. It is also a noise nuisance.

We live in Meers Parcel, very close to the manhole.
The cast-iron manhole cover has now split completely in two, and is more noisy (and dangerous ?) than before. 6th March 2025
