Collapse! Dangerous deep hole

Reported via desktop in the Manhole category by Peter Bowles at 21:44, Sun 16 February 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

A roadside underground culvert has collapsed, opening a 1m deep hole that a pedestrian, cyclist or car could hit. While only 20cm wide, and at the edge of the carriageway, it is deep enough to injure a leg for example. Opposite Kidmore House, between junction and pond, this culvert carries water towards the pond. Broken pipe is visible in the bottom. Please cover to make safe asap.

  • On a common route for horse riders, pedestrians, dog walkers etc. If a horse or human were to stand on it they would almost certainly break a leg

  • A cone has been placed over the hole, but the collapse has not been fixed. The hazard still exists beneath the cone, which can only be a temporary measure, surely?
