Blocked gullies and road drains
Reported via mobile in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by Jonathan Carlton at 18:05, Sun 26 January 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
This has been reported before but nothing has been done for weeks and the leaf/twig/slurry build up is causing road flooding. Drains do not service themselves and without periodic clearing the problem will only get worse

This problem appears to have received no attention. The gutters, gulleys and drains on both sides of Barford Road are blocked with tree debris . The length of gutter on the East side between Orchard House and beyond St Christophers Lodge is particularly bad. Heavy rain will inevitably cause flooding and the blocked drains will direct water down my drive causing the flooding of my garage.

Thank you for your report. Oxfordshire County Council is responsible for maintaining approximately 120,000 gullies on the highway network. Gullies are cleaned in accordance with the County Council’s maintenance policy, and we operate a targeting program with a higher frequency of cleaning in areas at risk of flooding. Bloxham area is due to be visited to by our Gully Gang in July/August 2025 where all units within the village and surrounding will be attended to. Kind regards
