Investigating
Numerous Dangerous Potholes and poor Road Surface.outside Village
Reported via mobile in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 13:44, Saturday 25 January 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Please see original reports on ref 2660731 from 2021 & ref Enq 241022637 on which I have been notified today 25/01/25 has been fixed. This is totally untrue and having inspected the area, there are still many deep potholes at the road edges on both sides of the narrow stone bridge, which cause all vehicles and bikes to veer into the centre of the road to avoid damage, but the potholes are causing a dangerous situation as the bridge causes an S blind bend. I do not understand why this has been marked as fixed as it is so apparent that it has not been, but it is too dangerous to stop and try and take photos. It needs a physical inspection. Please deal with the complaint with some common sense as this matter has been reported for so long and keeps getting ignored. The job needs doing properly and the problems resolved.

When describing the problem areas I would like to stress that the road edges and surfaces are their worst when going from Aston to Bampton direction, starting just before the narrow stone bridge on the left hand side and then extending all the way round the corner until the road straightens out again, thus creating a "S" road shape. It is now impossible to avoid the deep holes without going over the white line with caution, and as it is a blind bend on the bridge its impossible to see what traffic is coming from the Bampton direction.

Whole road need sorting round bends. Multiple deep holes extremely dangerous

This series of potholes are on bends as you leave Aston towards Bampton. They are impossible to avoid without going into the opposing lane on a blind bend. There will soon be a serious accident unless they are fixed. EXTREMELY URGENT and known about for months.

The deep unavoidable potholes are extremely dangerous! I followed a car yesterday who, like me l, could not avoid them on the blind S bend heading from Aston towards Bampton. He had to pull over to change his damaged tyre causing an obstruction just round the blind bend. This is a serious accident waiting to happen! Cars regularly cross onto the opposite side of the road on the blind bend to avoid the dangerous potholes. When is this going to be prioritised and fixed? It has been like this FOR MONTHS!

Unbelievable that this has not been fixed yet. Had to emergency stop today to avoid someone driving round a blind corner on the wrong side of the road to avoid these. Are they waiting for someone to die before they fix it?
It was first reported in January - it should not take this long to fix

These holes remain (or if they were fixed, they have opened up again. As another person reports, these holes are forcing drivers into the opposite land on a bend which is inherently dangerous. They need urgent attention.

Had my mirror smashed off by a car on the wrong side of the road avoiding the potholes yesterday. At what point will the council be liable when a fatality occurs due to the state of their road that they have been notified of many times .
