Reported via mobile in the Property Flooding category anonymously at 16:05, Wed 15 January 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Something has changed a waterflow so that now the water is flowing down a footpath making it unpassable when wet and also eroding the footpath. This water is then flooding the road and causing erosion of the road surface causing potholes..

  • I refer to the situation referred to above which is the only access to our property. In times of heavy rainfall it is not only impassable on foot but is seriously eroding the lane for vehicles. In addition the lane from Bornholm Farm to the public footpath where this flood is occurring is also becoming seriously potholed. I believe that although this part of Chawley Lane is in private ownership (not ours) it was adopted by the council some years ago.

  • Thank you for proactively bringing the drainage issue at Chawley Lane to our attention. Your vigilance helps us maintain the quality of our highways. We are pleased to inform you that the Parish or Town of Cumnor is scheduled for gully emptying in the third quarter of this financial year. While severe weather may cause delays, we are committed to thoroughly cleansing all Highway Surface Water Assets in the area within this timeframe.
