Extensive pothole

Reported via desktop in the Other category anonymously at 15:08, Fri 13 December 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

A massive pothole causing catastrophic damage to my husbands car last night, requiring recovery of the vehicle. The wheel was severely damaged and tyre punctured. We live in South Wales and he was only on this road (B4019) because the M4 had been closed. Pin may not be in exact location and pothole was concealed with water. He was travelling from Highworth towards Faringdon and the pothole was around 2 miles from Faringdon. It has taken him most of the day today to sort the damage to his car, costing close to £200.

  • I hit this massive pothole while approaching Faringdon on Friday 13th December. It totaled my two passenger-side tyres and damaged the front wheel. I am awaiting further investigation to see if there has been damage to my axle or other elements.

  • You have asked for photos, but we are not local to the area any more and the incident happened at night when it was dark so do not have photos. My husbands main concern was trying to limp his car to a safe location to stop and get assistance.
