Flooding in the road!

I am sure you are west of the issues with drainage, flooding and now icing on the A417 past Mellor's Garage!

Firstly the cleaning of the road gullies on the side of the road have made a difference, past the road junction so thank you!

You’ll be aware of the deep farmland drain that is constantly draining onto the road surface indicated at on my images!

You may not be aware some of the roadside drains are effective and to some degree are taking water away from the surface however this is the minority especial on Mellors side near to where the torrent of water is entering the road, can all these catch pits and drains be cleared to help!

I have asked previously what OCC councils Stratagy is with the stretch of road this time last your on FixMyStreet with no response!

I understand for long standing neighbours this road has been like this for 20 years!

Can I suggest you ask the farmer to dig a ditch along the back of the hedge and connect the offending drain to the pond and land drains a little further along, allowing the water to drain, safely!

I understand the farmer is unwilling to cooperate With OCC, is it unreasonable to take him/them to court to pay for all the road damage? If it is yes then can this action be initiated?

Once drainage is achieved then the road surface and curbs need to be repaired to a safe standard!

The issue today, for around a mile either side of the issue, this morning due to low temperatures the road was completely ice and dangerous in stretches, it either need constant salting or closure when it like this!

If there is not a permanent solution it’s only a question of time before there is a serious life changing accident!
