Drain that takes Alfred’Well stream under Locks Lane is blocked

A drain takes the stream from Alfred’s Well under Locks Lane and into the Letcombe Brook It has been blocked for a month and the stream is overflowing over the surface of Locks Lane into the brook. This is creating a very slippery surface and a slip hazard

  • Its now 2025 and this simple maintenance task has still not been completed. This could escalate into a much bigger problem that will only cost the taxpayer more.

  • No rain for ages to the point where we are at wild fire risk and this fault is still letting water drain over the footpath. I would say that confirms this isn’t going to fix itself. What stage would you say your investigations are at now 6 months after this issue was reported.

We are pleased to inform you that Wantage is scheduled for gully emptying in the first quarter of this financial year, April-June 2025.
