Road Layout causes tailback onto A34

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 08:17, Thu 17 October 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The multi-roundabout layout over the A34, combined with automated pedestrian crossing lights to the west of this location causes significant tailbacks down the sliproad and onto the A34 Northbound.

This is a significant issue, as stationary traffic is then adjacent to traffic that is travelling at between 50 and 70 mph.

A left only filter lane at the top of this sliproad, or the use of lights to control traffic coming over from the Didcot direction would prevent this tailback from forming.

  • New road layout (even more traffic lights) will transfer tailbacks to the bottom of Hagbourne /Chilton hill complete waste of money.
