Multiple potholes next to drain covers

Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 19:15, Tuesday 15 October 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

There are multiple potholes along this stretch of road. There must also be a burst water main or spring as water is constantly running down the road and making the potholes next to the drain covers worse. Also because the potholes are constantly covered by water one can’t see the potholes.

  • The drain covers 3 of them have collapsed down around 6”. The amount of water running down the road makes it impossible to see the holes where the drains are. They need urgently fixing and HS2 need to foot the bill as it’s their Lorrie’s doing the damage.

  • The road is flooded. It's very dangerous, trucks come on the wrong side of the road round the bends heading south, 3 feet of the edge of the road heading northbound is no longer there. There is going to be a very serious accident here very soon. This road needs to be closed to effect emergency repairs and hope they are done properly for a change.

  • Only way to get round this safely is to stop and and wait to go to wrong side of road needs fixing asap

  • Got a puncture and buckled wheel here today as no way of avoiding the deep craters at the side of the road, despite knowing they were there. As I was taking pictures, multiple vehicles clattered into them as they were filled with water so it was impossible to see them. It was a busy time of day and getting dark. This potentially could have caused an accident as the road is very bendy and narrow with very limited places to stop to change a wheel. I will be sending my wheel repair and tyre bill in, in due course.

  • Water still gushing down the road and very large pothole on one side meaning vehicles have to move into the middle of the road to avoid it. So dangerous! This has been a serious problem for weeks.

  • The width of one pothole is now taking up over half of the lane. If it's left any longer it will be a giant sink hole. Utterly disgraceful.

  • This is insane, these potholes must be at least two foot deep now. No signs or cones to mark them and as they’re full of water you won’t know you’ve hit them until it’s too late. Either cone it off completely and put traffic lights to allow people to get round them or, you know, fix them? At the very least put some signs up. I’ll send the council the bill for the damage done to my car and both tires 👍🏼
