Very muddy cycle path - slip risk
Reported via desktop in the Vegetation & maintenance category anonymously at 10:05, Tuesday 8 October 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
Since various works have been done at the pumping station with large lorries, there is a lot of mud on the cycle pathway which is increasing slip risk particularly in wet weather. Please can this be cleaned up. With thanks,
Council ref: ENQ241019934

I also use this section of cycle path and have been finding it very hazardous with all the mud currently on the path (caused by the works lorries).

Nearly 3 weeks after this report no action has been taken. I cycle at night and it really dangerous. It’s Thames Waters mess leaking on to the cycle track. Why haven’t the council enforced a clean up?

Still very muddy as of 13th November 2024.
Really, if it is appropriate for lorries to access that area, that section of path+verge(mud)+cyclepath needs replacing with hard landscaping, as the wider lorries' tyres have just completely churned up the verge into mud and the mud will only replenish itself from more lorries if cleaned up.

My response from OCC.
Thank you for your report. After a thorough investigation and risk assessment, we have determined that the issue warrants attention and this has been passed onto the street works tech who will ensure TW reinstate the cycle path to the normal condition after their works

Oxfordshire County Council:
Given that the 'works' have been going for a long while and it looks to be a big job, the cleaning of it 'after their works' means in a couple of months? As usual it's an anonymous response from OCC.
I have also contacted Thames water but there is no way to inform them of their mess. I tried, they responded by stating the issue had been resolved.
So I guess the mess will persist until someone is seriously hurt. What a shambles.
