Blocked drains / Gully causing water level to rise on the corner of Edinburgh Drive & Waverley Avenue

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by Bernadette Mitchell at 16:41, Mon 7 October 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

On 23rd September my property was affected by deep surface rain water that had no where to go due to the blocked drains / gullys - all manhole covers were lifted surrounding my property and the water level was overflowing. The flooded corner of Waverley and Edinburgh meant that any vehicle attempted to drive through was causing a tidal wave of water to enter my driveway, garage and gardens. Some neighbours spent several hours attempting to clear the drains which eventually successfully allowed the surface flood to subside - without their actions my property would have been flooded - the water level was a 1mm away from the airbricks. Both of my gardens were under ankle deep water - I had to run submersible pumps for 24 hrs to drain the water once the road flood was cleared by the neighbours. It appears that this flooding was directly attributed to block drainage
