For the last week or so the road by Ingham Lane, and then round the corner turning into Brook Street, has been constantly flooded with an inch or two in places of a fairly flow of water. It has been reported to Thames Water last Tuesday, thinking there might have been a burst pipe somewhere further down Ingham lane. After two days and a fair amount of back and forth on Whats app with Thames Water (hard to raise on the phone), they sent one of their number to inspect this last Friday evening.
He reported back to me after his inspection yesterday evening and said it was definitely not a problem to do with Thames Water, since he had come out to inspect and seen the flooding for which he has the following explanation.
Rain water flows down from the hills into the brook, as it always has done, to fill the small pond area are adjacent to Stonor Gren. From there it is piped underground down into Brook street. The problem is that these piped water passages are bow presumably blocked and urgently need clearing. This seems not to have been done for some time and he explained it was not the obligation for Thames Water to do that but rather Oxfordshire CC.However, he also remarked that when the weather stated to freeze, unless the pipes were properly rodded and cleared, the road at this junction would soon turn into an ice rink and this would almost certainly result serious accidents, especially in the early mornings with all the traffic passing in an out of Watlington via that route.

The volume of water seems to be increasing, this has been a problem for over 1 month now. Pedestrians are getting splashed, will be very dangerous when the frost start

I agree with the above update. The amount of water that is all over the road is alot. When the weather gets cold and there are freezing conditions, this section of road will be dangerous and there will be a serious accident or two or more Needs sorting asap
