Requires a yellow hatch box to stop traffic from Sunderland avenue blocking the exit to Banbury road

Reported via mobile in the Road Markings category anonymously at 10:21, Thu 26 September 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

This is creating hour long traffic every single morning on elsfield way as cars are getting trapped on the roundabout by cars coming from Sunderland avenue and entering the roundabout to sit stationary and block the exit to Banbury road. It is a nightmare and a yellow hatch box is needed to solve this.

  • Thank you for bringing this to our attention and appreciate how frustrating the situation must be when it occurs. Unfortunately it is thought installing a yellow box road marking will cause potential backing up of traffic on the roundabout that has the potential of causing total grid lock on the whole roundabout until it could eventually clear itself thus generating large traffic hold ups on the main A40 route. However your suggestion will be considered as an option when the roundabout road markings are refurbished as part of the maintenance programme.
