More Huguenaut Flower Planting Please on All verges instead of traditional weeds?
Reported via desktop anonymously at 16:57, Sunday 22 September 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later
It was the Huguenots who first brought the planting of FLOWERS in public and private spaces to ENGLAND from Holland sometime around the 18th Century. Before then such displays were practically unheard of grass areas being mud like the bad roads (fixed by Scotsman Macadam)& horrendous weeds that were the natural tendency in the land. Thus it is sad sight to see many areas such as Audlitt Drive returning to this unkempt state generally. Could we have far more flowers please? I know some people hate flowers such as The 1960s 'Rockers'who used to rip them up from Council Beds at Seaside Towns and hurl them everywhere but surely we have outlived that age? Yard High weeds are just as bad as this they are HORRIBLE to look at. Wallingford Town Council Oxfordshire has issued an Official Apology for their failure to cut weeds. Can Abingdon please do the same? Thanks Ahead

Yes please apologise for how badly kept our town is. Oldest town in england, been maintained for centuries and now falling apart because the council cannot even tend to the green areas. Becoming more and more ashamed to say I live in Abingdon
