Street lights never replaced after an accident
Reported via desktop in the Other Lighting Issue category anonymously at 13:47, Tuesday 10 September 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
On the 31st October 2022, a lorry from the building site took down several power lines which included several street lights. The power (see picture) was down for over 12 hours. Although the power was resolved, the street lights were never replaced. This leaves the area (as seen in pics) completely dark, resulting in you not being able to see the pavement (which isn't even) or potentially if anyone was hiding there. This is an accident waiting to happen. I've personally tripped there myself, but fortunately didn't hit the ground. I know this has been raised with the council, why isn't this being fixed?

Hi, many thanks for the report and i appreciate the frustration with this one. We have been in conversation with the local Councillor. Our contractors have had to go through a lot of hurdles to get authorisation to work on SSEs wooden pole and reconnect these bracket lanterns. SSE wouldnt connect them when they replaced the poles after the RTA as its not their policy. Sorry this has gone on for so long, its not a ticket many contractors have, but we are almost there with a linesman that can carry this out.

Many thanks for the reply. What timescales are you looking at? When it originally happened, I did ask them why they're not fitting the lights. The reply, it was down to the local council to fit the lights. (spoke to the guys who replaced the wires and connected back to my house) It would be good to see this finally getting resolved
