The single drain in the cul de sac is blocked. It is at the lowest point on the Charlton Heights estate. Every time there is significant rain, the road becomes flooded. This is a long standing problem. It is compounded by the fact that the drainage system exits the estate via Barnards Way, which is uphill from the location pinpointed on the map. The gradient for the drain is therefore very shallow, since its downward slope is against the natural lie of the land. It is therefore crucial that the drain itself is cleaned regularly to keep it clear of mud and debris. I cannot recall the last occasion when this was done, despite prvious reports.
