Light pollution into house, light extremely bright

Last week you kindly added a small shade to this street light outside our house at 86 Youens Drive, Thame, OX93ZQ. Thanks. Unfortunately this has made very little difference to the very bright light coming into our home. The streetlight still shines in to the upstairs windows extremely brightly and keeps my kids awake in spite of me putting up blackout curtains. Is it possible to dim this light or switch it off? Or install a much bigger shade? The street is very brightly lit all along the road and on either side of the light that causes us a problem. We are at the mercy of this incredibly bright streetlight and the only way to block out the light ourselves now would be to install industrial-style outside shutters which would be very costly and I'm not sure we can anyway due to planning rules. This light pollution from the streetlight is affecting my children's sleep and ability to focus now back at school. Anything further that you could do would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry this is still proving an issue for you. The geometry of the street and close proximity of the houses to the highway with relatively little front garden inevitably means that you will experience more direct light being so close to the lamp column and lantern. I have raised an instruction with the contractor to fit a side shield as well and if available a deeper rear shield but I'm aware this will only have limited effect but hopefully go some way towards reducing the nuisance to you.
