Flooding of Road

Reported via iOS in the Flooding on Road category anonymously at 19:17, Sun 8 September 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Road is flooding due to blocked drains and or soak away/gully opposite the new housing building site.

This was apparent in winter 2023 and is still present in 2024. The road is completely covered in water and dangerous when it rains, taking days for it to dry up.

It needs to be fixed before we head into winter conditions.

  • This issue is getting worse, much of the road is flooded and does not drain even during prolonged periods of dry weather. There are risks of traffic collision and also the footpath is dangerous which is a key route to the nursery school.

  • Thank you for your report and apologies for the delay in a response. Could you please let us know if this is still an issue or if this has now been resolved? If this is still an issue, if possible and safe to do so, could you please provide any new images and detailed location information of the issue so we can get this raised for repair faster. Many thanks and kind regards

  • Hi,

Unless you OCC have been out to look at this issue then no nothing has changed here. As my original posting mentioned the issue was apparent last year and with the subsequent rain so far this year flooded the road.

Further to that another member of the public has raised the issue separate to mine on this platform.

As it has not rained for the past few days the water has reduced, but as soon as it rains again it will be back.

There is a verge opposite the new housing estate that is being constructed, which is where the water builds up and breaks across the whole road and paths. This is on the Coxwell Road leaving Faringdon, between the Ampthill Way housing estate and the roundabout close to the A420. I would suggest investigating.

  • Road once again deeply flooded and impassable heading out of Faringdon. Accident waiting to happen and an important route connecting the town to the A420 and families to nearby nursery. The ditches on the A420 side of the road need clearing, they remain filled with water even during dry periods meaning even a small amount of rain causes floods.
