Safety mirror at bottom of subway removed

This mirror has been removed from its mounting so its not possible to see who is in or approaching the underpass. This is an issue for safety and security.

  • This mirror was at first subjected to fly posting vandalism several months ago but now you say its been ripped off all together!? That subway over which nothing hardly has been done-other than some urine hosed down some months ago-is a disaster wiaiting to happen. Its not for nothing that a friend of mine new to Abingdons first thoughts were 'Clockwork Orange'! To those not in the know clockwork Orange features a run down subway similiar to that here and Swindon from a London Location where the infamous Droogies mindlesley Assault a Tramp to The sound of Classical Music.The scene was supposed to represent the urban 1970s planning blight and working class crime it supposedly engendered. God Forfend that anything like that should happen in this case but the removal deliberate of the security mirror does not forbode well.
