Voi parking bay causing hazardous e-vehicle parking

Reported via iOS in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 16:41, Monday 2 September 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

As previously reported the e-vehicle parking bay at the junction of Headley Way and Woodlands Road is the cause of frequent pavement obstruction to pedestrians. Pedestrians are forced to divert into the road on Woodlands Road or into the cycle path on Headley Way. The e-bikes and e-scooters block the right of way for disabled and elderly pedestrians to access the footpath.

Furthermore, the introduction of e-bike vehicles were not part of the original e-scooter trial and should not be allowed to park in bays not intended to accommodate their larger size.

It is not acceptable to simply close this report down with a link to the e-scooter trial hoping the matter is closed when it is the duty of Highways Department to conduct a thorough risk assessment of the location in the interest of public and pedestrians safety.

  • Pavement location at Woodlands Rd/Headley Way totally obstructed by e-vehicles. Was this not foreseen by the e-scooter? Is it acceptable to pose a hazard to pedestrians at night as well as daylight hours? Parking must be risk assessed as evidence is clear this location is not appropriate for e-vehicle parking on the pavement.
