Road markings in wrong place

Reported via mobile in the Road Markings category anonymously at 17:58, Sunday 25 August 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

I see there's a report of school markings not being replaced. They have a little further down the road right by the Milton Service Station. Clearly, it didn't occur to anyone that this couldn't be the right place. Schools return in just over a week and this needs rectifying before then for the safety of children.

  • Thank you for your report.
The road markings have been installed in this location to prevent vehicles parking there and reducing visibility of children crossing during peak hours, so in this case having the road markings there is a safety feature (possibly as an alternative to double yellow lines). Where the school road marking is installed, the footway on the approach to the petrol station terminates, forcing pedestrians to cross over to the other side without a formal crossing.
