Missed opportunity

Reported via iOS in the Roads and Carriageways category by Rupert Molloy at 21:30, Sunday 11 August 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The Kings Road in parts is to be resurfaced on or about the 23rd August. The ‘elephant’ has already been around to inspect and clear the gullies, but only on those sections to be resurfaced, By the pedestrian crossing on both sides of the Kings Road the gullies are blocked and fresh green growth fills them. These gullies are just outside the area to be resurfaced. Unfortunately, rain water does not recognise such man made boundaries. Please have these gullies cleared to make the Kings Road safer for all users. Thank you.

  • There is another gully almost hidden under compacted dried mud that is opposite the junction of York Road and Kings Road. I told the Highways team marking off the carriageway for resurfacing that all gullies in Kings Road needed cleaning out in order for it to also take all the surface water that runs down York Road, which was laid without any drains, and the same goes for Clarence Road, which is closer to the pedestrian crossing and its adjacent gullies as reported by Rupert Molloy. The last gully between this crossing and Mount View junction is also blocked but cannot work even when clean because of excessive tarmac having been laid when resurfacing the mini roundabout. I understand that this matter will be dealt with at a later date and that danger of getting drenched by the persistent puddle will one day cease to be a pedestrian hazard.
