No visability for anyone

Reported via desktop in the Grass category anonymously at 09:20, Mon 29 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

How long are you letting the grass grow on a roundabout? You’ve cut one half and left the rest! Looking out of Banbury there is 0 visibility crossing this road, likewise when crossing Dukes Meadow Drive, you can’t see a thing coming out of Sainsbury’s. If you wanted wild flowers, why did you cut down the meadow full along Dukes Meadow? Someone will get run over here, it won’t be on the motorist or pedestrian it’ll be on whoever decided not to cut it, without using common sense about safety.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
