Road collapsing due to brickwork - now a hole

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 15:47, Wed 24 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 6 minutes later

The bricks around the drain have slipped further and are now falling into the drain leaving a hole in the public road where cars and children walk over - very dangerous. This was reported previously in March and unfortunately it was marked as "resolved" by the council without being repaired so has worsened. The brickwork needs cementing in and the drain stabilising (as has been done around the drain next to the park in the same road where there was the same problem in March.) There is no way to access houses without driving over this.

  • To update you this was looked at urgently at the end of July by the council and a yellow foot ramp put over the hole for one month. It was then repaired at the end of August 2024. The job was not perfect (some bricks are quite uneven as can be seen from the attached updated photo) but there is no longer a hole. I am not sure that your system was updated at the end of August 2024 about the work that was done - as you have only this week said the drain has been looked at for the first time since the initial report and scheduled for repair.
