A Grass problem has been found

Reported via desktop in the Grass category by Oxfordshire County Council at 09:46, Wednesday 24 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The mowing team visited Kelmscott on July 23 and while they cut the grass within the village, they missed out the long grass along the B4449.

Caller advised that it's very dangerous as a result - there has been several near misses already with skidmarks on the road from people joining the B4449 from the roads out of Kelmscott.

Could the team revisit the road to cut the grass - drivers really speed along and visibility is poor.

Thanks a lot

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
