Nettles on pathway
Reported via mobile in the Footways and Pavement damage category by Jeffrey Bizzell at 15:39, Tue 16 July 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
What a shame a proper job could not have been done when you came and chopped down already fallen nettles. Clearing the debris, caused by leaf mould build up and holding the nettle roots, would have prevented the same problem occurring next year. I am quite happy to do the job if you permit me to put the debris on the grass verge as I have no way of disposing of it.

Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
