Sink hole in road has returned again

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category by Stuart McHattie at 10:01, Tuesday 16 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The road was last repaired around the start of June after much back and forth about whether the issue should be repaired. The surface was good for a few weeks and has now subsided again. The sink hole on this bit of road keeps sinking more and more despite prior repairs. Because the area sinking is not uniformly bringing the edges down with it, the result is a dip in the road that ends in a sharp incline back up to the normal road level. I've spoken with neighbours, and we can all feel the significant vibrations in our houses when the Stagecoach X9 passes over the sink hole. Also heavy goods vehicles, of course. I personally hear our house shifting and ceilings make cracking sounds as well as my floors bouncing when this happens. We are three houses away from the problem. The neighbour who is closer says that they are woken from sleep by the vibrations of the first bus in the morning.

Because the sink hole is inline with the right hand wheels of the vehicles, it is hit nearly every time a bus or large vehicle goes by.

Once again I ask the council to please investigate the cause of the sinking and not put another patch on the road. The patches have failed 4 times now and this issue has been ongoing for about 3 years.
