Sign suggests all three lanes are suitable for straight on

Reported via desktop in the Traffic Signs category anonymously at 10:06, Mon 15 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

There is a lane indication sign that suggests the left hand lane is suitable for left and straight-on traffic. However the straight-on traffic lane is marked on the ground "Works access only". The sign should also reflect this.

  • The advance traffic sign entitled BMW Group shows the road layout ahead and informs that to access Gate 10 the driver is required to be in the left hand lane or first lane. To enforce this information the WORKS ONLY road markings is on the carriageway to guide the traffic wanting to access Gate 10 to use that particular lane. Lane 1 is a through lane and all traffic can use it, the road marking is information only. Also the marking informs drivers turning left out of Horspath Road to avoid entering Lane 1 should they wish to proceed on the Eastern Bypass and to use lanes 2 & 3. The road marking and signage have been insitu. over several years and there has been no reports of accidents or any concerns raised by the emergency services due the signage and road markings. However due to the concern raised the situation will be monitored for a period of time.
