Tree Branches Overhanging Road

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 09:27, Wed 10 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The tree opposite Heald Court (within the garden of 11 Meadow Way) is overhanging / protruding into the road (a shared surface) making it narrow (particularly with the on-street parking) and reducing forward visibility. The crown needs lifting ideally.

Please write to the owner and ask them to do this.

  • Still not done - very dangerous as Meadow Way has no footpaths and is regularly used as a cut-through by people who don't live here. They are supposed to use Teasel Way - traffic calming measures would be beneficial.

  • Some maintenance has finally occurred, I assume by the home owner. But the clearance over the road still does not seem sufficient for a public highway. Research suggests this may need to be as much as 5.05m. Worth an inspection by OCC.

  • Thank you for your report. Landowners and occupiers are responsible for maintaining any boundary features on their property that adjoin public highways and affect highway safety. In this case, the highway appears to be impacted, so we will contact the land/property owner. If necessary, further action will be taken.
