Uncut verges along Hagbourne Road and beyond

Reported via desktop in the Grass category anonymously at 13:29, Monday 8 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Uncut verges along Hagbourne Road to and out of Aston towards South Moreton and Cholsey and generally in Oxfordshire. Very poor visibility due to overgrown verges, and people driving in the middle of the road as worried will scratch their cars on the grass. No Mow May is one thing leaving it long in June and July quite another! One swathe cut along the edge of every road should be a must.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
