A small sample of overgrown verges

Reported via mobile in the Hedges category anonymously at 12:21, Mon 8 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The grass verges are not being cut and have obstructed a public pathway along Banbury Road and obscure vision along New Street. Many of the verges and beds are now overgrown with bine weed. We pay for our towns to be looked after please start doing this.

Updates

  • State changed to: Investigating

Updated by Oxfordshire County Council at 12:22, Mon 8 July 2024

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
