Thorns and branches overhanging the pavement

Reported via desktop in the Hedges category anonymously at 00:20, Mon 8 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Thorns and branches are overhanging the pavement causing an obstruction to any pedestrian including those disabled or pushing buggies. The thorns are at head level and lower so you are forced into the road to walk past them. Needs cutting back significantly - thorns could take an eye out at the minute!

Updates

  • State changed to: Investigating

Updated by Oxfordshire County Council at 00:20, Mon 8 July 2024

  • Thank you for your report. Landowners and occupiers are legally obligated to properly maintain vegetation on their property that is next to the public highway. If the vegetation affects the safety of highway users, it becomes their responsibility. However, in this instance, since the highway was not obstructed, there may not be sufficient cause to take further action at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation during statutory inspections.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
