Missing 30mph reminder sign

Reported via mobile in the Traffic Signs category anonymously at 16:30, Fri 5 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

There used to be a sign here reminding vehicles exiting the Crowmarsh roundabout onto the A4074 towards Reading to drive within the 30mph limit. Without a sign, it is nearly impossible at peak times to pull out of Cox!s Lane as the traffic is consistently doing at least 40mph.

  • It’s more than three months since I reported the missing 30mph sign, and yet the status is still ‘investigating’. Every day I, along with numerous others, take my life in my hands crossing from Cox’s Lane with vehicles doing 40/50/60mph as they accelerate away from the roundabout. It is neither hard nor expensive to replace a missing speed-limit sign.

  • Still no action has been taken here. Not only do cars risk collisions trying to exit Cox’s Lane, but pedestrians and cyclists trying to cross the road to the central reservation are at serious risk: indeed a pedestrian was seriously injured here, and still no action. It is not difficult, surely, to reinstate the missing 30mph sign?? I wonder where the liability will lie when the next accident happens, as it surely will?
