Overgrown verge B4030 by entrance to Barton House

Reported via desktop in the Grass category by Councillor Dave Jackson at 14:22, Wed 3 July 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 6 minutes later

The resident of Barton House has asked me to see if the verge can be mown down. Coming from the west you cannot see what is coming round the bend from the opposite direction. Although it is 50 mph , sadly not all drivers adhere to the limit. There have been some "near misses" Looking along the B4030 from the exit from Middle Barton village, I would suggest ALL the verge has to be mown as there are several "blind bends" (e.g past the allotments) A separate resident has asked if the grass overhanging the pavement from the village to Rayford Lane could also be trimmed back. All this can be done on the same visit.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
