Gullies need re-digging out to avoid flooding

Reported via mobile in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 14:27, Sun 30 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The road along the stretch between the entrance to Combe Mill and the Swan Lane road bridge requires the roadside gullies (90 degrees to the road) to dig out by a digger. This road floods considerably over winter - OCC are aware of this (their Flood sign is still here, completely obfuscated by the summer growth) - but cannot drain. There are about 6 gullies which OCC have dug out before but now overgrown. It was a huge problem last winter…constant flooding, leading to considerable road destruction as it was constantly under water. See other reports for details. This has been discussed with Andy Graham (Head of OCC) and through the Combe PC. A report was prepared last winter which Andy G has seen and been re-sent. Gullies have been dug out in other parts of Oxon but not here, despite multiple requests. This is leading to the current very poor state of the road (and caused road edge destruction) and will only get worse again this winter. Please can you get a digger to cut out the gullies before winter to allow water to drain away from road and into the field.
