Completely overgrown access to footpath

Reported via mobile in the Hedges category anonymously at 10:45, Sun 30 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This passage through hedge is meant to provide access to the footpath my husband uses to walk from Hinton Waldrist to Southmoor, to get the bus daily. However, as you can see it is unusable. He has to walk an even longer route now. At the other end of the footpath, where the steps go down from the farmers field onto the A420, the steps/path are also badly overgrown. If the people of Hinton have to use such paths to access regular bus routes, they need to be kept clear and uasable

Updated by Oxfordshire County Council at 10:45, Sun 30 June 2024

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
