Path is now single file and stinging nettles over flow causing an issue

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Path is narrowed causing single file use due to over grown verges which are made up of mostly stinging nettles, these cause discomfort for all that come in to contact with them, somebody could trip and fall in to the nettles

  • Extensively overgrown footpath number 21. Barely a single person access now - stinging nettles, tall seeded grass and bamboo.

  • Thank you for your report. The estate the footpath resides on has not had the highways adopted at this time. Whilst this footpath is classified as a public right of way (PROW) we are only responsible for the surface. Landowners and occupiers are legally obligated to properly maintain vegetation on their property that is next to the public highway (PROW). The Estate developers or Town Council may be able to assist you. If the vegetation affects the safety of highway users, it becomes their responsibility. However, in this instance, since the highway was not obstructed, there is not be sufficient cause to take further action at this time.
