Conifer hedge blocking pavement

The hedge on the corner of this junction has taken over half the pavement making it difficult to walk to school with children as you have to walk single file.

  • This is now taking up 75% of the pavement and forcing those with pushchairs into the road. It's been over 3 months since it was reported and nothing has been done.

  • According to Google maps, the hedge stretches across two properties on the corner. 37 Chandler Close and 20 Colville Close.

    It's difficult to know who owns the hedge.

  • It is coming up to 6 MONTHS since this was reported.

    This road is next to a primary school and children are having to walk on the road as the pavement is blocked.

    I appreciate the council do not own the hedge, but they are responsible for the pavement, and the pavement is severely obstructed.

  • Thank you for your report. Landowners and occupiers are legally obligated to properly maintain vegetation on their property that is next to the public highway. If the vegetation affects the safety of highway users, it becomes their responsibility. However, in this instance, since the highway was not obstructed, there may not be sufficient cause to take further action at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation during statutory inspections.
