Soakaway is totally blocked and needs specialist equipment

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by David Southgate at 12:21, Wednesday 26 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Thank you for your contact today regarding the latest views on blocked drains in the local area, due to recent excessive rainfall. However, this drain in Letcombe Bassett has been reported on numerous occasions well over the last 12 months. Surface mud has been so compressed into it by vehicles, the whole drain away needs clearing out. It floods across the entire width of the main road through the village making it impassable for walking, even with the lightest rainfall. Please can you rectify this once and for all whilst the dry weather is with us. Thank you.

  • The Parish has paid to have the gully cleared, and this has revealed that the pipe connecting to the gully is defective. Water does not disappear, suggesting that there is a blockage. Further investigation with a camera is needed (this time by OCC).
