Poor visibilty at junction

Reported via mobile in the Grass category anonymously at 21:09, Friday 21 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The visibility is very poor for motorists trying to exit Haxeldene Close on to the main road due to high grass either side of the junction blocking view. I suspect that part of this verge was cut earlier this year but every summer the verge is not cut far enough back - by summer the tall grasses are so overgrown that visibility is severely reduced. Please can the area adjacent to the junction be cut back properly.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
