Overgrown nettles and vegetation danger

Reported via mobile in the Grass category anonymously at 07:13, Friday 21 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The bank on Water Street along from the culvert and around the bend going up to the Ardley turn has not been cut since the spring and is making visibility around the bend difficult and because the bank from the culvert to the bend has not been mowed we are unable to walk on that side. As there is no pavement this makes it very dangerous walking as you have to walk on the road as there is pavement.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
