Verge along Oxford Road to lodgehill needs cutting (urgent)

Reported via desktop in the Grass category by Deborah champion at 16:42, Sun 9 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The grass on the verge under the hedge where the cycle path is now bigger than the already narrow and dangerous pavement. You cannot pass without getting hit with hemlock and stinging nettles. The whole path is vey over grown; I do not believe all the grass needs cutting the whole length of the road, but the path needs to be usable and the cars need to be able to see out of the road opposite the garage or they’ll be an accident. This happens every year and I don’t see why it needs reporting every time when it’s obviously going to happen. Just schedule a cutting for goodness sake. There are other reports but nothing has been done yet.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
