Did they miss a bit?!!! B4009 pelican crossing in Goring

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category by Mike Ward at 20:48, Sat 8 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Following the resurfacing work last week on the B4009 between Goring railway bridge and Mongewell A4074 junction, there is a short section of the northbound lane around the pelican crossing (junction with Milldown Avenue) where the road has not been resurfaced. Did they miss it? It's very odd. Please can you check that there is a good reason for this?

  • This section was omitted from the surface dressing extent as the approaches to the ped crossing have a High Friction Surfacing (HFS) layer. This has a much higher skidding resistance property than surfacing dressing. Generally HFS is not covered by a dressing as it would not achieve the level of skidding resistance required for the crossing approaches.
