Destruction of grass verge

Reported via desktop in the Grass category anonymously at 15:14, Fri 7 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The current groundworks laying an electric cable alongside the A44 in Yarnton are being finished very badly. Trenches dug in the grass verge are being refilled haphazardly with what is dug out with no account taken of the original turf. The result is both a mess, and a hazard because this verge is mown by the Village and the casual litter of stones has caused damage to the mowers. The refilling of the trenches is unacceptable and the contractor should be made to replace the turf, or at least fill the top of the trenches with topsoil and re-seed properly. This is a Highways verge;so can the County Council insist that it is tidied up and re-instated properly. The trench extends all the way along the A44 from Cassington Road to the Sandy Lane roundabout, and probably further.
