Weeds growing through new tarmac
Reported via desktop in the Footways and Pavement damage category by Robert Daniels-Dwyer at 06:50, Fri 7 June 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The A44 between Yarnton and Pear Tree has new pavements/cycle paths on both sides, following 2023 roadworks. Over the last few weeks, weeds have begun to break the surface of the tarmac and grow through it. This is obviously permanent damage, and once the tarmac if pierced, the holes will only get larger, through weed expansion and freeze/thaw. Obviously, this would not happen if the work had been completed properly. The work done appears to have been sub-standard, and OCC needs to get the contractors back, at their own expense, while it is still clear that this is a defect in the work.
