Big square pothole in the middle of the lane approaching Oxford

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 16:55, Thursday 6 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

When approaching Oxford via the A40 (i.e., going east), there is a big square (and quite deep) pothole smack in the middle of the lane. It's about the size of a drain cover and is very easy to spot. Cars will normally straddle the pothole quite easily, but if you're on a motorbike it's really quite dangerous because of how big it is and how easy it is to hit it if you're not aware. If you're riding normally and don't see it, you'll definitely hit it because how central it is.

This pothole has been here for a while now. I last spotted it yesterday (06 June). I appreciate I don't have a picture, but I can't really pull over there to take one with all the traffic. But if you travel eastbound it's impossible to miss. It's difficult to pinpoint the exact location here, but it's still outside the 40 mph zone for sure (but not too far).
